Nautricity Gets Tidal Test Berth at EMEC

first_imgNautricity has secured a grid connected tidal test berth at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), following successful sea trials at EMEC’s non-grid connected site last year.In 2014, Nautricity tested its CoRMaT tidal energy converter and Hydrobuoy mooring system at EMEC’s Shapinsay Sound test site gaining experience of operating in real sea conditions. The company is now moving a step closer to commercialisation having secured a test berth at EMEC’s Fall of Warness test site for its next generation prototype – putting their technology to the test in some of the harshest sea conditions on the planet.Cameron Johnstone, Nautricity’s chief executive officer, said: “The objectives for Nautricity’s forthcoming operations at EMEC are threefold: we want to undertake technical de-risking of a grid connected 0.5MW CoRMaT tidal turbine within higher energetic tidal sites; evaluate the performance of Nautricity’s new foundation system designed for shallower water operations; and demonstrate the ability to quickly deploy our tidal technology in tidal sites with short operating windows using smaller scale vessels.“We are keen to get to get the next CoRMaT turbine into the water so we can build on our experience in Orkney. We’ve previously been through 3 scale prototype testing programs – as well as the full scale second generation device tested at EMEC’s Shapinsay Sound site last year. The principle of undertaking these tests was to hone in on the components of the complete system, and test individual components safely and easily. We are now looking forward to combining these to test a fully operational system.”In addition to EMEC’s well-known grid-connected sites, EMEC also offers real-sea testing in the less challenging conditions of Scapa Flow and Shapinsay Sound.Image: EMEClast_img read more

Utah State University Logos

I’ve attempted on numerous occasions to get the logo page for Nicholls State University (my undergrad alma mater) updated with no success. 0 Posted April 6, 2012 Recommended Posts 0 Sign in to follow this   Wow…even having been a former Aggie, I’ve never seen this logo anywhere before. That’s pretty great. I have most of the school’s logos over time in PNG and Illustrator formats. How can I get them to the owner of the site to get posted? Here are links to them on an Aggie Message board.Currenthttp://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5576 (Primary)http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5575http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5578http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5579http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5581http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10567http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=106011992-1994http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=55831991http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=187601973-1990http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=118241968-1969http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=189471964-1967http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5582All of the current logos are being retired later this month when a new identity is revealed on April 28th. I added Upsilon Bold to it to bring it more in line with the original decal:I didn’t actually use a font. I ended up just tracing the letters from the original. The one part that’s hard to tell from the original is if the corners are straight edged or if they have rounded edges. I chose to go with rounded edges because I couldn’t tell. If they are straight then your font is almost spot on except with the A and the G which are quite different from the original.Wow…even having been a former Aggie, I’ve never seen this logo anywhere before. That’s pretty great. I think it’d be awesome on a T-Shirt!I’ve been an Aggie fan my entire life and have been collecting old logos from anywhere I could find them and this is the first time that I’ve seen this one. There are a lot of people over at USUFans.com that are wanting shirts as well. It’d be pretty expensive to do them though with a small run. I contacted the company that designed it and they confirmed that they did actually design it but they couldn’t give me any more information. They don’t keep a very good historical record of old projects…especially ones that are 60 years old. Better than the current primary. If the rumors are true about a new logo, a modernazation of those would be a good idea. Those are some of my favorite logos that they’ve ever had. It’s not just a rumor that they are getting a new logo this year. There is a Nike Logo Reveal Press Conference scheduled for April 28 at 12:30 Mountain Time and the new logo’s are just a big U with State written across them. They aren’t bad but definitely could be better. Share on other sites Members Share on other sites Share this post 0 You would happen to have weber state’s historical and current logos, would ya? It’s probably not perfect but it’s pretty good. You can get the Illustrator and PNG files here: http://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=19193Any news on the new Utah state logo?Nothing new. I have a copy of it and have described a little bit of what it looks like earlier in this thread. Nike designed it all and will be unveiling it on April 28 at 12:30 Mountain Time just prior to the Spring Football game. They will be streaming the press conference live here if anyone is interested. I e-mailed Angelus Pacific and they verified that they created it but didn’t have any more information outside of that that. I’m going to have to do some more research. I found an eBay listing from 2008 of a Decal set that included this decal. I’d love to find it somewhere but I think I may be out of luck. 64 posts Members Posted April 4, 2012 Share on other sites What if there were no hypothetical questions?
