Amongthese, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degreesdesigned to prepare students for purposeful lives andcareers.About the Opportunity:The Network Science Institute (NetSI) is launching a new NetworkScience Research program to recruit a cohort of 3-4 outstandingresearch scientists working on network science-related areas.Positions will range from early career to senior level roles andwill be offered by a departmental home commensurate with backgroundand expertise. Fellows will become core members of the networkscience institute, a community of researchers and graduate studentswith diverse academic expertise. Fellows are expected to graduallyforge their way to research independence, moving from Instituteprovided salary support to primarily grant-funds over the course of3 years. At the end of the three-year period, there will be anoption to continue as professional research staff, or be offered atenured position. Fellows will be integrated into the vibrantintellectual community of the Institute, including ampleopportunities for collaborations and independent proposaldevelopment.Candidates are sought from all scientific fields, particularly forthose interested in advancing network science theory and/ormethods, or to extend network strategies to novel applications.While research interests will ideally cut across multiple areas,the candidate must be able to intersect with at least one of ourcurrent research programs including: the role of cellular andsub-cellular connections in biological function and disease(biological networks); disease spread through populations(epidemiological spreading models); use of digital platforms inshaping opinion, policies, and/or governance (networks for good);coordination of teams, organizations, or communities with sharedgoals (network performance); development of algorithms andplatforms to model behavior of meta populations (networkforecasting).Responsibilities:Fellows will be active members of the Network Science Institute,dedicated to creating synergy among faculty expertise, acrossdepartments and colleges, with shared computing infrastructure,active lecture series and vibrant collaborative researchopportunities. The individuals filling these positions will also beexpected to contribute to our distinctive PhD program in NetworkScience, by working with doctoral trainees, and contributing toknowledge exchange.Qualifications:Candidates must have a doctorate degree in a social, biological,information or physical science field prior to start date of theappointment. In addition, the candidate should have already donesubstantial research with scholarly publications and must have ademonstrated potential for externally funded networkscience-related research and excellence.
