Mr Skerrit, who is also the Minister of Finance, said during the ground breaking ceremony for a resource centre in Wesley on October 18, 2014, the government must ensure that the island is fully prepared to manage the disease.“We understand the tremendous threat that that virus poses to the entire world and we are making a firm financial commitment to provide the resources to prepare ourselves for any eventuality or possibility,” Mr Skerrit said.The Dominica leader noted that the government has taken some measures to ensure that the virus doesn’t reach our shore. One group from Nigeria was cancelled from performing at the upcoming World Creole Music Festival, scheduled to commence on Friday, October 24, 2014.The Ministry of Health commenced formal screening at the Melville Hall Airport last week. It is also equipped with personal protective gear and thermometers.“People don’t understand these things sometime, you have money to do something and another urgent and critical issue comes up and you now have to take monies marked for another project and divert it to another more critical situation,” the Prime Minister said.Today, Latin America and Caribbean leaders, including Dominica, are meeting in Havana, Cuba to develop a joint plan of attack against Ebola, which has so far claimed nearly 4,500 lives.Dominica Vibes News 292 Views   no discussionslast_img
