DaVonte Lambert ‘probably’ out for the Iron Bowl

first_imgAUBURN — Auburn may have to play the Iron Bowl without its leader in sacks.Defensive end DaVaonte Lambert suffered an undisclosed left leg injury on the first defensive play of Saturday’s game with Samford and is unlikely to play this week.“He’s probably out this week,” Auburn defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson said. “We don’t know for sure.”Without Lambert, who has 24 tackles with seven for loss, including a team-high 3 1/2 sacks, Auburn will likely turn to Gabe Wright to move to end and bring back the “rhino package.”“We’ve had Gabe and Montravius (Adams) out there before and I’m sure they’ll have to be repped and be ready to go,” Johnson said. “Raashed Kennion came in (Saturday) night and got almost basically his baptism as far as getting to play some. Whether he’ll be up for this or not, I don’t know.”last_img
