REX on top for ontime performance

first_imgRegional Express (REX) is the best on-time performing airline in Australia, according to new research by Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE),BITRE’s 2013/14 Domestic Airline On-Time Performance Report shows that REX achieved an 88.6 per cent departure rate, in front of Virgin Australia Regional (84.8 per cent) and QantasLink (82.3 per cent).REX also achieved the lowest cancellation rate at 0.5 per cent compared to QantasLink’s 2.5 per cent rate.REX chief operating officer Neville Howell said that achievement was a testament to the hard work of staff.“Rex operates a vast network throughout South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland with extremely diverse operating conditions; this includes contending with winter fog and snow and with the highly congested airspace at Sydney Airport to which half our flights operate,” Mr Howell said.“The industry leading 88.6% on-time departure rate and 0.5% cancellation rate is testament to the dedication and efficiency of our front line and operational staff who executed more than 63,000 flights within the past year.”REX is Australia’s largest independent regional airline.Source = ETB News: Tom Nealelast_img
